THIS SUNDAY: Matthew 22:1-10
This Sunday, we will begin the Parable of the Wedding Feast. We will divide the parable into two Sundays. This week, our focus will be on verses 1-10.
As you read the parable, do not forget:
Jesus' audience is a crowd in the temple, including the Chief Priest and elders of the people.
Jesus delivers a string of parables with connected themes for this specific audience. (It would be helpful to read them in one setting, Matthew 21:23-22:14)
While you read and pray through the above, consider the following:
Compare and contrast the Parable of the Tenants and the Parable of the Wedding Feast.
What seems to be the main point(s) Jesus is making?
Meditate on the grace of God in Christ that has come to you when you were not looking for it. See what kind of love the Father has for us that we are 1) now His people 2) Spirit-filled fruit producers 3) Celebrating the eternal joy and blessings of Christ.
Other passages to consider:
Matthew 23:29-39
Ephesians 2:11-22
Romans 11:11-24
Prayer Meeting & Catechism Class:
We will no longer have Sunday School class at 10 am. Instead, we will gather for a short catechism class and prayer meeting. Please join us each Sunday at 10 am so that we can pray together as a church.
Question 88. What doth every sin deserve?
A. Every sin deserveth God’s wrath and curse, both in this life and that which is to come (Eph. 5:6; Gal. 3:10; Lam. 3:39; Mt. 25:41; Rom. 6:23).
